This site's audience includes ages 13-100 but it is focused more towards middle school to high school ages. There are plenty of different level of math curriculum from addition to calculus. This site includes games, practice problems, pictures etc. The website definitely catches the eye but I'm not sure if I would count that as appealing. It is very jammed packed with a ton of links for different material. Also the color scheme doesn't seem to serve a purpose but to seem like an arcade. This was the first of my three websites to have a lot of information about the authors which was a good thing. Most of the games were educational and served a purpose but I did find some games that didn't even seem to be mathematics based. The website was organized for the most part, but I feel that there was too much and too many links to choose from, especially from the home page. There needed to be more categories, or less material. Overall, I think this website would help prove to students that math can be fun. I would use it in my classroom.

DAR.org Michelle Petty, January 22, 2011 Overview: The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) website is aimed at educating others about the American Revolution, genealogy of members and scholarships for those who meet the criteria. It is not necessarily aimed at students or teachers, but it is a very informative and useful website for American Revolution projects. The site it set up with clear tabs leading to specific sites and searches. The most important link on this site is its online library catalog, which allows individuals to search for specific battles, commanders, cities and other items related to the American Revolution. Content: This website is aimed at informing the public about the DAR and the American Revolution. It is for an older audience, middle school and high school, and would be most helpful in research projects. It is a very nice, official looking site with a clearly identified author and copyright date along with contact information to the site. The site is organized in a very user friendly way with links on the left hand side of the page, and special featured items on the right and DAR related sites across the top of the page. All links lead to educational sites, or journals that are written by experts in the field. Design: The design of this website is very official, with clearly identified authors and easy to use links. It is easy to navigate, and has links to journals, pictures, and videos that are relevant to the American Revolution. All links work and take the viewer to the correct site, and the information provided at the site is educational and useful. This site is great for American Revolution information and is one that I would use as a teacher, however it is probably too complex and advanced for younger audiences.

Rebecca Gardner Jan. 24, 2010 The content of this website offers a lot of different sources and links. It is a little hard to determine what this website is offering, because there is so much going on. It also is intended for a wide audience. There are links at the top of the page that will take you to the different sources, but then navigating though them can be a little tricky. Information about the author of the website is available and so is there contact information. The latest revision date was not provided, but the sites copy right dates were current, and the links were up to date. The purpose of this site is informational. They did however have some entertainment under the kids area tab. The links to other sites were related and appropriate to my needs The design of the website is to give you information on education, study abroad programs, and international jobs. It also offers information on career training and learning different languages. The tabs at the top of the page are easy to navigate though. The links to other pages were useful and appropriate. I didn't run into in dead ends when using the links. There was little to no multimedia except for ads. The website was very effective with a variety of browsers. There is a lot of sufficient information if you are researching topics that they have high lighted. The same basic format is used though out the website and it is fairly easy to find other links. My overview of this website is that I would highly recommend it to students that are learning another language or teachers who teach different languages, and also if you are interested in teaching or studying abroad. There is a lot of information and that to me was over whelming. But the over all content and design was helpful and appropriate.

Morgan Carlson 5/18/2011 Overview: The purpose of this site is to discuss The Diary of Anne Frank and to look more closely at the events leading up to her capture. The website also intends to discuss why the diary of Anne Frank can help us put a face to the millions of Jews that were murdered. The intended audience is for students in junior high or high school that would be reading the book. It can also be a tool for teachers to create lesson plans based off of the different categories presented. Some of the resources provided are links to movies based off of The Diary of Anne Frank, and video, audio, and graphic clips that are related to the life of Anne Frank, and/or the Holocaust. Based on the content of the website, the information is presented in a basic manner, and does not provide enough details or examples. Also, the design is very minimal and not as appealing to the audience as it could be. Content: Based on the cyberguide ratings for content evaluation, this website does a good job of presenting information in a clear and concise way with a variety of different links that provide related information. However, there is no author or sponsor or organization listed, and there is not a date for last revisions made. In addition, there is no information about whether or not the author is qualified in the subject area, or no way to determine whether or not the information has been updated since its creation. Although the site is well-organized, the lack of accuracy and authenticity is difficult to assess, and may not be an adequate site for research. Design: When first visiting the website, the sponsor and author are not present. Information for contacting the sponsor or author also are not present, and you must go to the website's homepage to retrieve any contact information for the website. Students could use this site to review the scientific method, gathering ideas for science projects, and getting help with their questions. Teachers can easily use this site because it provides them with a 'teacher resources' link that is equipped with handouts and worksheets. With all of the possibilities this site provides, it is easy to say that my overall impression of this site is that it is very well designed, easy to use, and very useful for my needs and purposes as a student and as a pre-service teacher. Content: The user is able to determine the basic content of this site at first glance, as well as the intended audience. The author of the material on the site is identified, information about them is available, and they appear credible. In addition to the author, the sponsor is clearly identified and they provide contact information. This site is current as it provides a latest revision date and that date is appropriate for the material. The links to other sites are current and work properly. The purpose of this site is clearly identifiable (informational) and the content effectively achieves this purpose. The content appears to be complete, is well organized, is easy to understand, is free of bias, appears to be accurate based on previous knowledge, was proofread (spelling and grammar are correct), and is consistent with similar sources. The links that are provided are related to the needs of students, my needs and my purposes, as well as the purpose of high school physics teachers and they are worthwhile and appropriate for these needs and purposes. Overview: The purpose for exploring this website is to obtain resources to help students look at U.S. history more objectively. The audience that this website is aiming at is teachers of middle/high school U.S. history courses. The available resources of this website are various historical subjects ranging from colonization to the 21st century; and a vast library of U.S. historical themes (e.g. slavery, civil rights movements, etc...). This website does a great job of supplying sufficient information while presenting itself in an appealing way. There numerous links and PDF documents that relate to the specific content area being looked at. Its design is very appealing and is also well organized. It is easy and quick to find information on the website as well. Content: One of the best things that this website accomplishes is its coverage of topics from colonization to the 21st century. Each section has numerous PDF's and/or websites that teachers can use to help teach that content area. Information about the authors/sponsors are readily available under the "About" section. The thing that this website lacks, however, is the revision history; there is only a copyright year. Overall, the website achieves its purpose of giving teachers the tools to help students learn about U.S. history more objectively. Design: This website has a very appealing design to it. Not only does it look nice, but visitors know exactly where they are once the home page loads. The site has an effective layout; the audience only has to click a couple times to get to the information that they need. The downside to the design of the website is the use of multimedia. There is little to no use of graphics, audio, and/or video. The overall design, though, makes this website worth visiting again in the future.

Overview: The site focused primarily on science information that focused on an elementary school audience. The site contained a lot of information on a large amount of different topics that would make it easy for a student to find information on just about any topic related to science. Different tabs included for the student are experiments, games, facts, quizzes, projects, videos and images. Students can use much of this information on their studies regarding science. Since there is a .nz at the end of the web address, the teacher can see the website was created in New Zealand. The site can also take you to other subjects like English and math although they seem to be done by same creator of this site. Content: There are a large amount of different topics that would make it easy for a student to find information. Topics include earth science, animals, chemistry, scientists, water, and weather. Each includes information on the topic and also in the site they can do activities and games. A lot of the information appears to be correct but the only problem is it is hard to tell where a lot of the information was retrieved from. It also shows that last updated date being January 9th, 2013 so all the information is fairly recent. Design: The main thing I noticed about the website's design was the color that popped out. The different sections of the site were listed with red, blue, orange, brown and other colors for the different topics. Many pictures were included on the site that makes it more interesting and entertaining for the students to look at while they are learning.

Content- This site covers just about every topic a child could think of from animals, to weather, volcanoes, to teeth. This site has everything. The home page of this site gives the different pages that information and activities can be found based on what sort of information is being looked for. There are pages for facts, science topics, experiments, lessons, videos, quizzes, pictures, and then other sorts of fun random science things. This site can be used for all age levels because there are so many different things to learn about and use on here. All the information is up to date and recent as well and the author is highly qualified to do so and updates the page frequently. The content is written in simplistic terms so that all ages can find and understand it. The site doesn't have any links to different websites but much of the information needed is all in one place. Design- When you come to the homepage of this site it is very well put together and students will know that this site will give them information about all sorts of science topics. The site is not too overwhelming because it does not have large words written across the screen, but words that students can easily read and know exactly what is being taught. The site is appealing to the eye and all pages are set up in the same manner. Pictures and videos are all relevant to the topics as are the games. Shaya Wolf - 2/26/2013 Overview This website is for teachers who are frantically looking for lesson plans. All of the plans are fairly complete and need minimal changes to make them fit a teacher's specific needs. These sites are not intended for students! It is intended for teachers and it is my personal suggestion that a teacher use these lesson plans as a starting point, not using them in their entirety. It includes many resources, but the ones that are useful to the user (a teacher) are the ones on the main page. The other links are helpful; however do not provide direct help. Overall, this site is very useful and provides quick and easy lesson plans organized by grade level and subject. Based on the content and design quality of this site, it is definitely worth your time to visit this page. Content At first look, you can easily tell what the purpose of this site is and any user could immediately identify that it is intended for teachers. The information providers are clear and easy to contact. They clearly identified the author at the bottom of the page and a link is provided to contact them. The sponsor is also clearly identified. I like how they put the author and sponsor information together so that the information is all easy to find. All of the information is current, as of 2007. It is important to note that if it were a news site, 2007 would not be current. However, lesson plans tend to be good for quite a few years before they become outdated, therefore, I consider 2007 to be current. All of the information is of quality. There is no bias obviously, but the resources given are all of good quality and they are resources that a teacher could actually and tangibly pull off the internet and use. The main content downfall is that there are no links are included to other sites that are related to what a teacher is really looking for when they need a lesson plan. Michelle Londe Overview: The United States National Archives website is one that middle and high school students, educators, and even those outside of the realm of education can easily use. This website provides many different purposes, including providing information on American history, exploring Veterans services and providing resources for teachers. A link to a gift shop is also provided within the site. Some links include resources to investigate genealogy, and DocsTeach. Overall, the site is very easy to maneuver and is easy to understand. It is aesthetically pleasing and worth investigating. Content: The content within the website is very useful for any person in the public realm. The main point of the site is to inform, and it does exactly that. The links to educational parts of the site, including the "Charters of Freedom" part provides basic, pertinent, and unbiased information. The information is solid and appears to be accurate. All pieces of information are easy to find and are clearly listed and labeled. The only regrettable part is the lack of authors for the more informational parts and the latest revision dates. But, despite that, there is still contact information for one to use if needed. Some additional links are included. Everything within the site is interactive and provides to the betterment of it. Design: The National Archives website is excellently designed. Everything is organized so the different parts of the website can be easily found and be taken to. The homepage was fun and interesting to look at, as was the rest of the site. The site provides a variety of rich resources regarding how to do research on the site and how to use what is given to the consumer of information. The user is able to move with ease among the site.

Intended audience: This site is mostly intended for high school students. Available resources: Links are available, but they are not biology related. Overview: The best part of the website is the biology games. They are very education and are trivia based games. There are also some biology jokes and facts that are entertaining. The website is a little busy, making it a little hard to navigate to where you want to go. Content: In the biology games section, the content is good. Some of the other sections are not so biology related. Design: The design of the website is a little too busy. There are a lot of links to different stuff that seem a little unrelated. The website does download fast and movement between the pages is quick.

It is a place where students can read up on some current events or play some educational games. The audience of this site is both teachers and students. The nice thing about this site is that it is very well organized with very little advertisements and unnecessary things. It is very easy to navigate and it has a purpose behind every heading. Content: As soon as you come to the homepage you are able to determine that it is an educational site. You can't tell right away that it has games and reading, but you know it is for education right off the bat. You can also tell that it is for both educators as well as students. The authors of the site are not given right off the bat, but you can tell right away that it is part of the Smithsonian. The content is fairly well up kept you can tell from the copyright date. The purpose of the site is for entertainment in the form of games and it is also educational information. The site is very easy to navigate and has titles to links that work very fast. The site is laid out in a very easy to navigate setting. I would say that this site has educational value and is one that I would recommend. Design: I really like the design of the homepage and the whole website. The site moves at a fast pace and doesn't lead you to things that you don't want. The homepage is set up in a very clear cut manor and sets up the website in a very good way. You can tell right away what the website has to offer and all of the titles lay this out. There is a copyright date at the bottom of the page. There is no table of contents, but you know what the site has to offer from the links and titles on the homepage. Amy Andreen ITEC 2360 (TR) Overview: While searching for websites that would aid in teaching History to High School students, I found many great sources. It is no surprise that the Smithsonian has amazing resources to use. The site I found was entitled smithsonianeducation.org. Not only does it have great information for history teachers but for Art, Science, and Language Arts as well. Once narrowed down to the link entitled "History and Culture", I found that I could also choose between "Educators", "Families", and "Students". It has lesson plan ideas and information that can be used for many different areas throughout history. Content: The content included in this site is all up to date as far as I can tell. The last revisions were made in 2010. There are resources for different age groups that include different activities to utilize within the classroom. Also, the content ranges from Japanese interment in the United States to African History. The areas I found were very complete and useful, however, I found that the list of content is not as large as it probably could be or that I hoped it to be. Design: The Smithsonian site is really easy to navigate and very well laid out. I had no problems with searching for different eras, materials, or even different content areas. Everything downloads quickly and the attachments were very easy to find and download as well.

This website provides many different ideas for a teacher to use. There are lesson plans, gives you a place to search other topics and gives you a standards search as well. I feel the content is good. There are many resources to choose from. The design drew me in to keep looking at the website for interesting lessons-not even related to to my subject area.

Khan Academy is an excellent resource for parents, students, and teachers. It is basically a free online classroom with video lessons and the opportunity to try and solve problems in short online quizzes. It has resources for math, science, economics, and more. The resources are intended for a diverse audience with resources that vary from kindergarten all the way to high school and beyond. Teachers and parents can use it to help their students or children to get extra instruction and practice. Students can use it to help them develop a better understanding and to help them practice or study for tests. The site is well made and the information is credible which makes it an excellent resource. The content is obvious as Khan Academy has a drop down tab that allows you to navigate to all the different subjects and the audience is also obvious as each subject is broken down by which grade you are in. The content specialists are all experienced experts in all sorts of different fields and so the information can be verifiably accurate. Everything is well organized and the information is explained mostly through videos which tend to thoroughly explain the information. The website downloads very quickly and is aesthetically appealing. You can tell that it was professionally made. All of the links work and directions for using the website are fairly straightforward. All the videos and graphics serve a clear purpose which is typically to explain and illustrate different subjects. For example in the Trigonometry section a video is shown which illustrates a right triangle and the different ratios that can be used to solve the sides or angles of the triangle. The website is also extremely current as the copyright date is 2015.

Trevor Montgomery Khan Academy is a resource that students, teachers and parents can all use to encourage and promote positive attitudes and confidence for students in math by using activities that seem like games that actually help students practice and hone their math skills in a seemingly fun learning vessel. Khan Academy is also an extremely great resource for parents and teachers because they can not only track their child or students' progress, but also create activities and lessons for students to do outside of class and have their own online tracking guide. As far as content goes, the activities are based on grade level and category for the students, so as teachers, you have a lot of control as to what the material is. Additionally, you can add students to the class at any point and when necessary, look at the lessons from a "student view", where essentially you are logged in as a student and can take a crack at the lesson yourself to see if there are any errors or misconceptions. This is actually a great tool as a way to, in a sort, "proofread" your lesson or online homework activity assigned. You can also track skill progress specific to each of the students and when a child is done mastering a certain activity, you can keep track of that and maybe quiz them in class as a way of ensuring mastery of the concepts. The intended audience is parents, students and teachers alike. As a personal user and someone who knows they will use this resource as a future teacher, I have to say I give this resource a big thumbs up. So as far as easiness and fluidity of the website goes, it couldn't be easier to navigate. Especially for students, you couldn't ask for a better layout of a resource like this that clearly identifies goals and activities for you. As a teacher, everything is neatly organized in one place for you to navigate back and forth through students and activities.

The purpose of the wiley.com website is to have an interactive educational use about the cell structure of different types of cells. The audience for this site should be older students in science programs, high school age or older. Content The cell structure and being able to compare structures of different types of cells are very important to education of science students. I thought that this site had very good interaction as well as very intelligent and useful information for students. The site would be good to use with students who have a basic knowledge of the cell structures and are looking to enhance their knowledge and review it as well. This would be a good resource in a classroom setting with lots of applications possible from it. Design The design of this website was very easy to use. It had very clear instructions as well as easy to find help sites if you got stuck. The design of this site was helpful to being able to learn about all of the cell structures.

Emily Phillips 8/31/2010 Overview: The purpose of this site is for the teacher to give his students easy access of his math notes and to provide his notes and math help to people who might need it. The intended audiences are students in his math class or math students in general, most likely in high school or college because of the levels of math that he covers (i.e. Algebra, Calculus I, II, etc.). Because it appears that he is the only one managing this site, he has provided other links where people can go to ask math questions. I think this site would be very helpful for people who need extra help and examples and need to find them quickly. Even though there weren't any stand out graphics or many colors, the site was easy to navigate and there was nothing to distract you like the ads that are normally along the side or top of the page. Content: It is very easy to tell quickly if this site would assist a person in their math needs or not because everything that one would need to find is available in a drop down menu at the very top and immediate left of the page. The information provided on the site seems current and accurate and the author appears to be qualified considering he states he is a professor at Lamar University (for which there is a link). The sponsor of the site is not clearly identified however. The links to other sites are very helpful and would further answer the user's questions if this site was unable to answer them. Design: The overall design was simple and easy to follow but maybe some more attractive colors could have been used to attract the eye of a person who might just be browsing through math websites. There were no graphics to distract from the subject and they are not necessary to emphasize anything on this subject. It would possibly be more beneficial to users if there were at least a couple examples which were interactive and let them figure out the answer for themselves.
